Quote

"There’s no conspiracy at work, I don’t think, no ill will, no leering Men Behind the Curtain: just a bunch of people from good universities, living out the dream, cringing a little at the dog-crap story even as they ensure that it goes out on time, with excellent production values."

By George Saunders, quoted by Jakob Lodwick.

Cf. Larry Lessig, the lawyer who fought (and lost) to keep Congress from extending American copyrights indefinitely at the behest of Disney and its cohort. Lessig also oversaw the Creative Commons, a healthy alternative to copyright (though he is by no means AGAINST copyright).

Lessig has now pledged to fight government corruption; at a live talk show hosted by Heather Gold, Lessig argued that there are precious few evil people; there are millions of good people in bad systems. “We’re all good Germans,” he says. And I’m amazed how rarely this belief is expressed.
