So I heard about the end of Favrd and my first thought was:

indefensible:

How’s @nick going to research his next book?

So I should probably confess something at this point: There won’t be any more Twitter books, at least not from me. I hope other people develop some Twitter-based projects. I mean, people already are, my current favorite being the book and TV deals for “Shit My Dad Says”. Several of you could put together a good pitch for a Twitter-themed book deal, and if you want some help, email me at nick@toomuchnick.com.

Meanwhile, I’m working on other projects. (None of them are paying. I’m pretty broke already, because I thought I had a job coming this past spring, and I got cocky about it, and it fell through, and I haven’t found another job, and I’ve spent my whole advance paying back old loans and paying my now-outrageous rent.) While the Twitter crowd gave me a lot of love for Twitter Wit, outsiders gave me a lot of grief for supposedly riding off the creativity of others. Others just pissed on the project because Twitter is still widely misunderstood. That criticism got to me. I enjoy being an entertainer much more than I enjoy getting people to understand things. So I’m concentrating on projects that involve me writing jokes. This is tougher, but so far it’s more personally fulfilling. And each of these projects have some potential, however small at first, to make me a living.

For now, consider me on the job market. It’s probably gonna be a few tough months before I’m writing jokes for a living again.
