Uh…hope you like TERROR! An America Patriot, a commenter over at Videogum (which fyi is the greatest) posted a link to The Enigma of Amigara Fault, which I had never heard of. I’m glad I read this in the middle of the day, because YIKES. THAT’S SOME SCARY STORY! I’d like to have a book club discussion about it, except I would probably just end up sobbing and cowering under the couch. Does anyone know any other fear-inducing horror manga like this?

OHHHHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYY GODDDDDDDDDD. Read this comic book. (Online, now, free.)

In sixth grade my family hosted an exchange student from Japan. He had this amazing short story collection by a Japanese author. For all I know, it was as dumb as R.L. Stine; all I remember are some of the plots as the student (Iku Ando) described them.

One was about people trying to figure out why these alien spacecraft were landing, and why the aliens inside them were always dead. The ending revealed that the aliens were using Earth as a mass grave.

So yes, there are many scary/weird stories in Japan. They’re good at that shit.

After you read this comic, come back and take a close look at the first panel shown here. Extra creepy bonus!
