Such A Waste
Avery Edison argues that inspiration is unlimited, and that sending a joke to Twitter or a blog isn’t a waste because there are always more ideas where those come from.
I worried about this too — was I wasting all my good lines on Twitter? — but now I see it as a testing ground for jokes. Twitter is a very small audience and thus most jokes on it still fresh for other audiences (the same principle that worked for standup until Comedy Central and YouTube). And jokes from Twitter can be expanded into other forms (for instance, as Avery mentions, as a web comic).
For these reasons, Avery and I might start a multi-author comedy blog written by some of Twitter’s funniest.
